The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) published a report in June 2015 condemning Canada’s history of colonialism and including 94 recommendations for working towards reconciliation. The Aboriginal Student Centre and the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) will be establishing a student-run committee to discuss the recommendations in the report and develop strategies for their implementation in the Carleton context. This committee will meet regularly over the fall term and will present its findings in a report to be delivered to the University’s senior administration as well as published online.

We are looking for students to take part in this incredibly important endeavour. The first committee meeting will be held on Thursday, September 17th, from 3-4pm in the GSA boardroom. This will be an information session as well as a time for interested people to help establish the direction of the committee. We are also looking for two people to be chair and co-chair of the committee. There will be honorariums for these positions.
