We’re in the final stages of the garden’s relocation! We recently reached an agreement to build the remaining 2 raised beds and we are looking for volunteers to help with the construction. We will be holding a Community Build Day on Saturday June 27th and we would love any extra hands to help build the beds. We will be meeting at the garden at 12:30pm and will have a celebratory BBQ on site for dinner. The garden is located at the southeast corner of the Nesbitt building, beside the River field (where the GSA softball league is held).

Kitigànensag is a place for all students, staff and faculty to come together to grow and enjoy healthy, socially just, and sustainable food. Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet new people, learn about gardening, and work to increase food security on campus. Plus, volunteers will be given preference for a plot once our growing season begins!

Like all other GSA spaces, the Kitigànensag garden is an open and inclusive environment. We welcome volunteers of all skill levels, backgrounds, and abilities. We will have more volunteer days in the near future to fill the beds with soil among other tasks. We all have busy schedules, so you choose the number of hours and level of involvement that works best with your schedule.

If you would like to volunteer at this event or any others in the future, complete the Volunteer Info Sheet available below and email it to our Garden Coordinator Jenna Smith at garden@gsacarleton.ca. If you are able to make it to the build day on June 27th please RSVP to garden@gsacarleton.ca so we have an idea of numbers for tools and food for the BBQ! There will be more updates and information on the Facebook event here as well: (there will be a link here to the Facebook event)

Hope to see you there!
