The GSA would like to express support and sympathy towards students impacted by the earthquakes and aftershocks that have struck Northern Syria and Southern Turkey which have resulted in over 33000 deaths and the destruction of infrastructure.

To those in our community that have created space and spearheaded fundraising efforts, we express our gratitude. From clothing drives, support groups and bake sales it is at the grassroots level that Carleton University thrives in support. Syrian and Turkish students have taken the lead and it is important for support to continue to be offered even after media coverage stops, lives are still altered.

We understand that this is a very difficult time for Syrian and Turkish students.

Graduate students with Greenshield insurance have access to the Inkblot student assistance program which includes 500 free minutes of virtual counselling services. This can be accessed through your policy number CAR-(Carleton Student Number-00) virtually, from setting up an account via https://org.inkblottherapy.com/nshn

Carleton provides free counselling services for both undergraduate and graduate students, and has a graduate counsellor, crisis counsellor, racialized counsellor and 2SLGBTQAI counsellor as well as can prioritize students within 48 hours for intake.
